In July of 2024, D.C. United club-legend Steven Birnbaum announced his retirement. Steve played his entire professional career for D.C. United spanning 10 years and over 250 matches. For this project, we wanted to give Steve a forum to reflect on his legendary career and to thank those who had an impact on him along the way. We worked with Steve to craft a letter to the club as a whole so that the video was as authentic to his voice as possible.

Our “From the Pitch” series was our version of cinematic game recaps. Each video was produced on a quick turnaround and released 48 hours after a win. These videos were meant to provide an inside look for fans, often featuring soundbites from the lockerroom before and after each match.

One of the major tentpole pieces of content each MLS season is the schedule release. The goal each year is to create a piece of content that gets people talking, sharing, and eventually, buying tickets for the upcoming season. In 2024 we parodied a White House press briefing, using local influencers and celebrities as suprise cameos along the way. In 2025 we parodied Love is Blind, using the actual cast from the recent season of the show that was filmed in D.C.. Both schedule releases were received well by the fans and incredibly successful metrics wise. Our 2024 video finished as the most watched schedule release in all of MLS while our 2025 finished second in total views only to Inter Miami.

In July of 2024 we announced that we had signed defender Lucas Bartlett to a new contract thru 2027. Lucas had proven himself on and off the field during his first year with the club and the contract was a symbol of the trust the club had in him to lead into the future. We wanted to create something to showcase Lucas’ off field personality along with his love for his new home city. Our team produced both a short-form video piece as well as select images.

The re-signing of Christian Benteke in 2024 was a massive deal for D.C. United. Benteke, arguably one of the best players in the league, is the face of the club. For this project we wanted to give people a glimpse behind the curtain to see what Christian is like when he’s not busy scoring goals. Christian often credits his sustained success to the preparation he puts in off the field and we wanted this project to showcase just that.

One of my favorite parts about my job is creating one-off videos strictly for social media. Often times these pieces are turned around a lot quicker than others, but I pride myself on upholding our usual production quality standards.
