On October 1, 2020 FC Tulsa defeated in-state rival OKC Energy FC. The rivalry is known as the Black Gold Derby and the winner of the three-game series each year receives a golden wrench. In 2020 the newly rebranded FC Tulsa claimed the wrench for the first time in 3 years after overcoming a 2-1 deficit. These three videos were turned around within an hour after the final whistle and capture the raw emotion from the epic match.

I put together these graphics to be used when announcing the End of the Year Award winners.

Prior to the start of the 2020 season, I helped budget, plan, and execute team media day alongside our Head of Marketing and Brand. The main purpose of the day was to capture all of the necessary photo/video assets for the upcoming season. It was an all-day shoot with around 15 people working on set. Each player came through at an assigned time and went through stations including headshots, full-body photos and green screen video. Here are some sample images along with some behind-the-scenes photos from the day.

I used green screen footage from media day to create GIFs. These GIFs were used as reactions on our own social channels and uploaded to the team’s GIPHY channel for fans to use.

For some of the 2020 season, I entered the COVID bubble with the team and traveled to away matches. I was able to produce the first two clips almost real-time to send to our social team back in Tulsa. The third video was edited while traveling back after the match and posted the next day.

Halfway though the 2020 season FC Tulsa signed a multiyear sponsorship with Williams.

Before each home match, I created a short teaser to go out 24 hours before kickoff. The videos were used to build hype and promote ticket sales.

As the 2021 season approached and we began announcing returning players, I created highlight videos for each player that were distributed on our channels as well as the athlete’s personal channels.

I also created similar videos for new signings.

These three videos best describe our club’s voice on social media.
